Public accident
“Mummy, can we go to the park to cycle with our brand new bicycles?”Jane asked with her elder sister, Jean. “Yes, but you must be careful,” said their mother. After that, Jane and Jean cycled to the park with their brand new bicycles. When they reached the park, they saw some people having picnic, some flying kites while some were playing ball. Then, Jean had an idea in her mind. She asked Jane, “Do you want to have a bicycle race?” “Yes, I will surely win,” replied Jane with confidence.
After that, they started the race. They cycled at breakneck speed. A passerby who went by saw a twig infront of Jean’s bicycle. He gestured with his hands to tell Jean that there is a twig laying on the path infront of her. Unfortunately, Jane and Jean were still talking and laughing to each other and did not notice the obstacle ahead.
As Jean was cycling, she saw a twig infront of her bicycle. That was when she just noticed the man was gesturing at her. Her bicycle was approaching the twig. She wanted to prevent the bicycle from spoiling, so she swerved her bicycle to the left. She lost her balance. As a result, she fell onto the ground. She fractured her arm and blood was flowing profusely out of her knees.
Jane was too shocked by what had happened to Jean and did not notice the boy infront of her was picking a ball which had rolled onto the path. Unable to break in time, Jane knocked into the boy. ‘Boom!’ Jane and the boy flew ten metres away from where they were. Jane’s bicycle was spoilt and she had bruises and grazes all over the body. She had also sprained her ankle. The boy fell on his head and became unconscious instantly.
One of the passersby called an ambulance. Within five minutes, the sirens of an ambulance were heard. The paramedics carried Jane and Jean into the ambulance and checked on the boy. One of the paramedics announced that the boy was dead. Everyone was sad and shocked to see what had happened. The boy’s parents were informed about what had happened.
The next day, Jean and Jane were allowed to leave the hospital. They went home with their parents. When they were in their parent’s car, they felt guilty about causing the death of the boy. They promised their parents that they will be alert at all times.
